Compliance Officer - Finance House

About Role

The Compliance Officer is responsible for ensuring that Ceviant Finance operates in full compliance with all applicable regulatory, legal, and internal policy requirements. The role supports the organization’s lending, credit, and embedded finance activities by proactively managing compliance risks and strengthening governance controls.

Role Responsibilities:

Regulatory Compliance:

  • Ensure compliance with Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) regulations applicable to finance houses and credit institutions.
  • Monitor regulatory circulars, guidelines, and directives affecting business lending, consumer protection, and embedded credit.
  • Coordinate regulatory reporting, filings, and responses to regulatory enquiries.
  • Support regulatory examinations, audits, and inspections.

AML/CFT & Financial Crime

  • Implement and monitor AML/CFT, KYC, and customer due diligence (CDD) frameworks in line with regulatory requirements.
  • Oversee transaction monitoring, suspicious activity identification, and STR/SAR reporting.
  • Ensure compliance with sanctions screening and watchlist requirements.

Policy & Risk Management

  • Develop, review, and update compliance policies, procedures, and controls.
  • Conduct compliance risk assessments across lending products and embedded credit offerings.
  • Review new products, partnerships, and channels to ensure compliance before launch.
  • Track, escalate, and remediate compliance breaches or control weaknesses.

Training & Advisory

  • Provide ongoing compliance advisory support to business, product, and operations teams.
  • Conduct compliance training and sensitization for staff.
  • Promote a strong compliance and ethical culture across the organization.

Governance & Reporting

  • Prepare compliance reports for senior management and the Board.
  • Maintain accurate compliance documentation and records.
  • Support internal and external audits with required documentation and responses.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Law, Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Professional certification such as ACAMS, ICA, CIBN, or equivalent is an advantage.
  • Minimum 3–5 years’ experience in compliance, risk, or regulatory roles within Finance houses, Fintechs, MFIs, or Banks.
  • Strong understanding of CBN regulations, finance house operations, and credit risk frameworks.
  • Hands-on experience with AML/CFT compliance and regulatory reporting.
